We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to join our team and lead and deliver our projects in a timely cost competitive manner. You will provide leadership to your team to achieve business goals and maximise safe, efficient and effective management of projects ensuring budget and delivery contractual objectives are achieved.

Moorvale Earthmoving is a successful civil construction contractor, with well-established connections in the Civil Construction and Mining Industries in Central Queensland. We have a strong history of repeat business with some of Australia’s largest coal miners.

Moorvale is a family owned and operated business that has been executing projects and operating a growing fleet of machines in the Bowen Basin for over 15 years with over 250 staff.

As the Civil Superintendent, you will be accountable for:

  • Ensure that the business is always promoted and is a professional supplier of a quality service
  • Ensure that all site activities and committed works are completed safely and to the agreed timeframe
  • Maintain an accurate schedule of existing and new works to show progress against plan
  • Coordinate with contract holders at both Moranbah North to identify site needs and schedule work plans between sites
  • Schedule and Plan machinery between Moranbah North to maximize machine utilization and productivity within the restraints and agreed priorities of Anglo-American
  • GOAF planning and management of GOAF Requirements
  • CHPP and related maintenance activities management
  • Road, drainage and dam maintenance management
  • Daily surface water cart operations management
  • Ensure adequate Supervision, Permits, JSEA’s, SOP/SWI’s are in place for all tasks
  • Prepare site supervisor for daily tasks through effective daily planning, reinforced at prestart meetings
  • Planning of work activities to ensure they are executed correctly. Control and monitor the tasks to completion, achieve project targets
  • Ensure the completion of daily, monthly, weekly reports accurately and in the required time frames
  • Conduct employee performance reviews on a regular and timely basis
  • Identifying skills deficiencies and providing training to upskill employee’s
  • Maintaining a skills matrix
  • Provide leadership to those that you are responsible and accountable for, including managing performance and behaviour in the workplace
  • Assign planned work tasks and ensure work has adequate supervision so that it is undertaken safely in accordance with the site procedures and established plan
  • Ensure effective use of resources in order to avoid high wastage factors
  • Coordinate and logistics management of plant on site and ensure it meets site compliance. Also report any malfunction or damage. Ensure supervisors are enforcing that plant is kept clean and presentable and all Moorvale Plant and LV procedures are followed
  • Ensure all works operate within Site SHMS requirements e.g. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Safety & Environment Analysis (JSEA’s)
    Draft Cost Estimates and Scope of Works for Project works
  • Consult with supervisor/workers to resolve day to day complaints and grievances
  • Liaise with clients, engineers etc. and be capable of understanding project requirements and have the ability to recognize additional works etc. Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Provide technical instruction to your Supervisors
  • Undertake and/or allow quality assurance activities in strict accordance with the contract requirements
  • Ensure Supervisors are aware of specified quality standards
    Ensure compliance with the employer’s legal obligations towards its employees and the condition under which they are required to work
  • Ensure promotion and leadership in the area of workplace standards, e.g. site cleanliness
  • Other duties as and assigned and deemed necessary to complete the role

To be successful you will need:

  • Prior earthmoving and construction experience, specialising in all facets of civil and structural projects
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Superintendent with demonstrated leadership skills and competency
  • Completion of standard S11
  • Coal Board medicals
  • Coal Supervisor qualifications S1,2,3 & G2
  • Current Queensland drivers licence
  • Intermediate Microsoft office and computer sills skills
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
